For same-day procedures, your companion should plan to be available for 3–5 hours and to drive you home afterward.

Your Questions, Answered

Can't find what you're looking for? Call us at 248-662-1500 and we'll be happy to help.

We offer general anesthesia and spinal anesthesia. General anesthesia produces unconsciousness so that you will not be awake during your procedure. Spinal anesthesia numbs the lower extremities and can include sedation. Your anesthesiologist will meet with you before your procedure to recommend the best option based on your medical history and type of surgery.
A nerve block is an injection of a local anesthetic medicine around a group of nerves to create numbness in a specific area. It can significantly reduce pain, typically lasting 12–18 hours after surgery, while also decreasing the need for general anesthesia and narcotic pain medications.
Nausea and vomiting may occur after surgery. However, many patients receive medication during and/or after surgery to ease these conditions to a tolerable level. Other common effects include drowsiness, muscle aches, sore throat, headache, and dizziness, which typically decline rapidly in the hours following surgery.
You will receive four separate bills: from your surgeon, your nurse anesthetist, the facility (ASC Novi), and your anesthesiologist. You are responsible for any co-pays and deductibles per your insurance plan. This is normal and expected — each represents a different component of your care.
We accept most insurance plans. For specific coverage questions, please call our billing office at (586) 722-4702.
